How I landed on “Joyfully Empowered” as my business name.
I’ve experienced quite a variety of jobs/careers/ways to make money in my life. I’m not someone who ever considered having just one job her whole life (that sounds awful). Change does not frighten me; in fact, I welcome the new & the challenge that change can bring. (I’ll be honest: I appreciate the new & the challenge much more when it’s MY idea!)
A few {not all} of the ways I’ve earned money over the years:
· Hostess + dishwasher at a Mexican restaurant (my first job!)
· Receptionist (at several different businesses)
· Furniture store finance department person (if there was a title, I don’t remember it!)
· Administrative Assistant to the Director of Individual Sales at an insurance carrier (one of my faves)
· Licensed insurance agent (home + auto + life) in two different states
· New business processor for two different financial service organizations
· I had a business, Queen Beanie, where I wholesaled CC Beanie products
· I’ve done a slew of Direct Sales businesses over the years: Creative Memories, Home Interiors, Tupperware, Thrive Life, Xyngular… and probably even more than that. I just love the networking and growth that can come from direct sales businesses.
Now, I live & breathe in the health + wellness + personal growth realm. I’m a 200-hour trauma-informed yoga teacher, a life coach, and a Reiki Master. I get to help people, mostly women, return home to their bodies and their wisdom. This is done through movement (both physical & energetic) and education.
When I first started out in this space, my website was my first + last name dot com. I really wanted a business name, though, that lit up my soul and also identified what I wanted to help people with. I really identified with the word empower. The thing is, as a society, we’ve been raised to empower ourselves to do many things we don’t love, or even like, for that matter. We’re sitting behind desks doing jobs we loath, for a paycheck. We’ve got our kids involved in all of the sports and activities because that’s just what we do now. We stay with partners that suck the energy & life out of us instead of lifting us up.
Instead of “strength and resilience”, I wanted “joy and ease” – I truly believe life shouldn’t be so hard. I wish to be JOYFULLY empowered in all that I do, in how I spend my time, even in how I earn a living. My business name is my mission + my purpose: to hold healing space for people so they can have more room for joy in their everyday life.
